The Home based business industry is huge!! And I see a lot of people having misconceptions about building their home based business. Let me share with you some of these common mistakes and share with you how you can avoid them.
- If only I was exposed in my home based business….Some people believe that if they just get that lucky break and sign up a community, or sign up a heavy hitter, or even get featured in a webinar that they will turn their business around and have big things happen. Folks, exposure is a a function of reward. It is not a lottery ticket. To create exposure and recognition you have a to do 2 things…first is make someone money..and or secondly pay someone money. In the wonderful world of affiliate marketing and network marketing for you to get exposure if you make someone else money you will get exposure. It’s not about schmoozing people in a cocktail party but it’s about making them money.
- I just need to get that heavy hitter or star in my home based business and i’ll do great…There is some truth to that, i’m not suggesting that you shouldn’t be getting heavy hitters in your team, but you do need that value to attract those ‘stars’. Characteristics of heavy hitters and stars are ones that get attracted to high quality value. Every once in a while a blind squirrel finds a nut but you cant rely on that. It’s just like the lottery ticket mentality. You have to increase your value and you will attract those kind of people.
- Thinking short term on your home based business…This is such an apparent statement and I see it all the time. Most people that get in the home business arena believe that if they don’t see thousands of dollars within 6 months then they’re going to quit. They forget that they went to college for 4 years and got a job to be where they’re at. Don’t get me wrong.. I’m not saying to wait 4 years until you make a profit in your business, but if you think about any small business owner, they have overhead and 95% of the time they spend 3-5 years in business just to break even!!!
Building a legitimate home based business is the short cut. It is the LOWEST risk way that I know of that anyone can go from zero to hero in a few months to a year. Too often people look for the short cut of the short cut. Focus on how you are providing value into the market place and how you can help and solve more people’s problems and you will become the success you desire.
